I ran dcdiag test:/dns and got the following error.  The reason I ran the test was I received the event 2088.

I removed a DC earlier today, but transferred all the FSMO roles successfully.  The DCpromo was successful.  The DC wasn't a DNS or DHCP server.  I don't know if this is related to the error below.

Hi

Those errors are for the root hints resolution. This is not an major issue. Are you facing any other issues.? You don't have DNS role on the server ? Are you able to resolve the DNS from both servers ? any replication issues. Post any error events found on the server

Thanks
Jai

Yes I can resolve to both servers.
The server is a DNS server and DC.

Then you can safely ignore this errors. Just check are you able to resolve external domains like google.com,yahoo.com from your DNS servers and client machines.
