You can search for "MSExchange Mid-Tier Storage" and you will see that there are several errors related to it. It may not be an actual, "all by itself" service but it is one of the Exchange 2013 components. Judging by the name, it may be have something to do with external storage or maybe is performing some I/O optimizations. I cannot find any information about it.

Event id 6002? All client connectivity is ok? CU1?

MSExchange Mid-Tier Storage is a healthcheck. If you have no client issues you are fine and this error can be ignored. However if you have issues with client connectivity this might refer to a DB problem

My interest in this is purely academical, I do not have a particular error or warning (I would've mentioned it in the first place). Although the name is a bit strange for a health monitoring component it would not be the first time when some name totally unrelated gets inherited by a redesigned application. In any case, I appreciate the effort to reply to this. If you find more details, please let me know.
