Creating email accounts in cPanel

When I create a new email account via cPanel and view the manual settings I see the following:

Manual Settings

Mail Server Username: andrew+mywebsite.com.au
Incoming Mail Server: mail.mywebsite.com.au

There is a plus sign in the username andrew+mywebsite.com.au instead of an ampersand?
just wondering if it makes a difference when I create email account in Outlook if I specify andrew+mywebsite.com.au or  andrew@mywebsite.com.au as the username?

You can use andrew+mywebsite.com.au and andrew@mywebsite.com.au interchangeably

I've never tried using andrew&mywebsite.com.au until now, but it didn't work when I tried (in fact, using an ampersand via webmail specifically generates the error message "The submitted username is invalid.")

FWIW I've set up 500+ cPanel accounts and hundreds more email addresses, and I have given all of the login details to users with the username in the form andrew@mywebsite.com.au

Thanks for your quick response, much appreciated. Sorry, I meant to say at sign @ not ampersand &... Cheers.  Andrew
