Not sure wha the problem is.  I have a photoshop file with multiple layers.  When I try to add an adjustment layer (levels) the layer is added to my file structure but the box where I can move the settings never displays.  Did it get turned off some how?

I think you're looking for the "Properties" window in the "Window" dropdown (up top).   Select the layer and make the adjustments on the "Properties" window/box
