How Do I Change a Saved Document Name in Word 2011 for Mac

The head says it all. I'm a new Mac Word 2011 user and trying to do the tasks I could easily accomplish when working in Word on a PC.

Click on the document in Finder. Hot return. Type in new name.0

Tried that, Strung. Doesn't work--all that happens is that the highlighting jumps to the file name with a first letter that corresponds to the one I type first in my attempt to rename the doc.

Any other ideas?
