Hi,

I have the ASUS M5A97 R 2.0 AMD motherboard with PCI-E 2.0 Graphics slot. I have a nvidia GT 630 2 GB PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card.

I saw a good deal with PCI-E 3.0 Gigabyte AMD/ATI GV-R775OC-2GI 2 GB DDR3 Graphics Card.

Is PCI-E 3.0 slot backward compatible with PCI-E 2.0 slot. Will I be able to install the PCI-E 3.0 slot Graphics Card in my PCI-E 2.0 Graphics slot in my ASUS M5A97 R 2.0 AMD motherboard.

Please reply and revert as soon as possible.

Thanks and Regards,
Sriram.

"Is PCI-E 3.0 slot backward compatible with PCI-E 2.0 slot."
Yes, completely.  You won't see any improvement in performance unless you have a PCI-e 3.0 compatible motherboard and chipset but it should behave perfectly as a PCI-E 2.0 card.

All you need to do is make sure there's physically room for it to fit your case :)
