Open outlook or lotusnote in client system

hi,

We are developing an ASP.NET application in C#.

We need to fire a mail client and populate the message body[more than 3000 characters] via a link on the page. We have an asp:label that is using mailto option to load data into client's outlook/lotus note, but it is not working fine when the data is more.

Is there a simplest way to fire the mail client with a blank 'To' field and let the user enter the address but the body message is prepopulated with our .net application.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your quick response.

Neither Lotus Notes nor Outlook Express does have rich options in accepting command line arguments. This is why mailto is not much helpful. In background mailto relies on these command line options supported by the associated email client. What mailto does is to ask browser to pass to executable found as default mail client supplied arguments. If they will be accepted and how depends on the client.

If you want something more you should consider COM interactions which might be a security concern.

Alternatively you could use a web form to send it as a mail from the server.
