Refresh records displayed as type

Dear Experts

We would like to develop search functionality for our own property website along similar lines to that offered at the following website:

http://www.pspc.co.uk/

For example:

if you type the letter 'c' into the Where would you like to live field the records displayed automatically reduce from 971 to 714

if you then type the letter 'r' into the Where would you like to live field the records displayed automatically reduce from 714 to 245

The website is using JQUERY and I suspect a web service to reload/filter the records after a letter is typed into the search field.

I wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or give me some advice on how we could achieve something similar.

Thanks for any help

This has been up here for a couple of days now. Possibly most people reading this feel you're asking for a lot (like somebody to make this for you), though after reading it again just now I feel you're actually not, so I'll give it a try ;-)

A relatively simple example of using jQuery including source for a webservice (but those should be possible to find all over the net): http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/349598/Introduction-to-using-jQuery-with-Web-Services

extra: what seems to be a bit more advanced info on the jQuery side of it: http://encosia.com/using-jquery-to-consume-aspnet-json-web-services/

Let me know if this is what you were looking for.

BTW: have you missed my answer on your previous question? If it is no longer relevant, I won't take offense if you just delete it, but leaving it open like this, after some time it will be classified as abandoned and the system will prevent you from asking new questions.
