I am having difficulty installing my old printers on my new 64 bit system.
I have the latest printer drivers.

What do I need to do:
reboot in safemode?
turn-off all firewalls?
what services need to be running?

thank you

If you have the correct drivers, then there is nothing special that you have to do. Just install the software, and then plug the printer in when it tells you.

However, if you're installing the drivers from the original CDs, then chances are that they are the wrong drivers. Older printers wouldn't have had Win 7 x64 drivers, and you should see if they are available from the manufacturer's website. Uninstall whatever you installed, and install those latest ones instead.

Many older printer drivers are available through windows update even though they are not shown in the list of printer drivers.  Just do a normal printer install through devices and printers and select "search windows update" when prompted

That means that you're using the wrong drivers. As I mentioned earlier, you'll need to download the correct drivers for Win 7 x64 (if they exist) from the manufacturer's website.

What are the makes and models of the printers?

Here's the manufacturer's driver download page: http://www.muratec.com/new/support/drivers.asp

But the 2830 doesn't specify if it's Win 7 x64 compatible. You'll need to download it and see.
