Hello,

If I have one of those auto-tagging add-ons for documents in a document library, do I need the taxonomy in the term store? Does the auto-tagging

I have thousands of documents in libraries with no tags and no taxonomy setup. Files were just copied from the file server to SharePoint.

Thanks,

Paul

Expand a bit on "auto tagging add-ons".  Which one?

Do you already have columns deployed to your Libraries, and you just need to apply the properties to the documents?  Or are you asking if you "need" to add columns to libraries?  Because you aren't required to have taxonomy at all if you don't need it.

I hear about products from WAND where it can do auto tagging for documents. Just wondering if you still need the taxonomy in the SharePoint term store.

Link to WAND:  http://www.wandinc.com/news.aspx

No library has columns, no taxonomy is been created, and no documents have properties. Wondering how to improve findability for documents in hundreds of libraries.

Thanks,

Paul

Not familiar with this particular tool, but looking at the product, it does require that you have an enterprise MMS deployed (not surprising).
