I have a SharePoint 2010 site.
It uses Active Directory to manage users.
We have multiple customers using this site on their own sub sites.
The users can not access each others sites.

But when I go to assign a task to someone in the issue tracker, I can search and see all the users in the active directory.
We only what to see the users with access to the site.

Is there a way to make this work and not share my entire Active Directory User list with everyone?

thank you

John

Hi,
yes, you can limit the search scope to the members of a SharePoint group.
Therefore go to the list settings, select the column (e.g. assigned to) and edit the "Choose from" to a dedicated SharePoint group.

I thought I'd write this up for anyone who has a request to create an anonymous whistle-blower-type submission form created using SharePoint 2010 (this would probably work the same for 2013). It's not 100% fool-proof but it's as close as you can get…
