Dear All,

I would like to capture the technical design details for existing set of crystal reports ( say 1000 ) which are stored in my local folder. The details my include tablename. Fieldname, formulas, runnting totals, sql expressions, group details, selection formulas, parameter details, conditional formatting details etc in a excel sheet or to generate a PDF file.

I am just trying for the automation of this documentation process.

Is it possible to write a vba macro in excel or some formula from a crystal report and read these properties of another crystal (*.rpt) file?

I have already checked the exporting the .rpt file to report definition format, but it is not giving the sufficient details.

Please let me know if you have any solution approach for this.

Thanks
Sam

No idea on how to do it but there are existing 3rd-party tools that provide some information

I don't know what is involved but I do know a company that has spent over a year trying to build a similar tool.  They wanted the tool to go one step further to convert rpt file to a new format.
