Hello:

In Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, is it possible to take a specific field and get details on all that it links to, such as SmartLists, reports, and other such items?  If so, how?

Thanks!  Much appreciated!

Hi,

I am not aware of any way to get a list of all items that utilize or query or depend on a field.

It might be possible to use Dexterity or create a custom Dex app to determine which standard GP objects use a particular field, but I'm not aware of any such feature or tool in Dynamics GP.

victoria_y may have some additional thoughts on whether it is possible or any tools that might be able to get that information.

Thanks,

Hi TBSupport,

Steve asked me to look at this thread to see if I could help.

The Support Debugging Tool may be helpful for this, so I would check it out, but I don't think it will give you everything you're looking for. Here is the link: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/developingfordynamicsgp/archive/2009/08/07/support-debugging-tool.aspx.

The only other possibility may be Rockton's Dynamics GP Toolbox: http://rocktonsoftware.com/Products/Product.aspx?p=C5B12B08-B757-DF11-B9CC-00505685016F&a. I have not used this, so I am not sure if it will help, but may be worth checking out.

Thanks, Steve and Victoria!  The Support Debugging Tool is what the client is going to go with.
