SharePoint 2013 - Upgrade Content Database Hangs

Hi,

I am currently in the process of upgrading my SharePoint 2010 environment by using the Database attach method.

Everything has been going fine until I have come to attach and upgrade my largest content database which is 125gig. I have attached four other databases with no problems at all and they have upgraded and are available in my 2013 environment.

When I run the following command in SharePoint management shell - "Mount-SPContentDatabase -Name DatabaseName -DatabaseServer ServerName -WebApplication URL"

It shows as 4.22% : SPContentDatabase Name - <Name of Database>

This then hangs and does not complete. I have left it for a full 24 hours and it did not complete. I did read somewhere due to the size of the transaction files whilst the update is taking place needs at least three times the space of the database which the disk does have.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Thanks,

Hi,

After leaving this to run over 3 days it did get to 30%.

The DB in question was 125gig in size.

I removed some of our older sites that where not required and had a general clean up of SharePoint and managed to get it down to 60gig.

I re-ran the upgrade on this which took 2 hours but did complete as normal.

My advice to anyone who is planning on completing the database upgrades is to make sure your database's are no larger than 60gig and if they are then make sure you allow enough time for the upgrade to complete.

Thanks,

Inf
