Installing the LSI MSM management software for Vmware 5.1

Hi,

I have VMWare 5.1 running on a box with a LSI 9260-8i raid controller installed.  I'd like to control it via LSI's MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM).  I've tried following the VMWare KB article at:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2004166

and while the software installed ok in a Windows VM on the host, it can't see the raid controller.  All it sees is the VM hardware itself.  Do I need to install additional software in VMWare itself, or ...?

Thanks much!

Despite VMware having an article, it's extremely difficult to get this working at all, and monitor RAID functions remotely from another computer. The problem seems to be the many different LSI cards on the market, OEM and LSI cards, and some which have no MegaRAID software on the card.

However, megacli does apper to work at the console or remotely via ssh.
