I am currently working on a migration process to move a single Exchange 2007 Server to Exchange 2013.  I have installed SP3 and Rollup 10 on the 2007 box in a lab environment.  I then installed Server 2012, all the pre-req's, and successfully installed Exchange 2013.  I then proceeded to move mailboxes over to the new server without issue.  I am now at the point where I need to make sure the new server can successful send and receive mail on its own, migrate the public folder, and do anything else necessary before uninstalling the Exchange 2007 installation on the old server.  I have read the technet docs but am still a bit confused as to how to proceed.  I am leave for California in 2 days to perform this migration over a weekend.

Can someone please help in breaking this process down for me a bit more?

Hi Modlin,

Have you seen checklist & Steps to Upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 by technet, Simply Explain all steps http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj898581(v=exchg.150).aspx

Note: Take complete backup of Exchange 2007 database before starting of Migration

I saw this doc but am still confused as to a guide to follow.  The checklist does not detail HOW to move mailboxes, or decommission the last 2007 exchange server.  Also, in 2007 you had to configure the send and receive connectors... It looks like they are configured by default... Is that true? And lastly, does anything need to be done regarding the OAB? These are things I remember doing in previous migrations that were spelled out but are not now.  Thank you and sorry for being a bit of a newbie regarding this exchange 13.

Just to be clear... I am looking for some instruction on what to do before uninstalling the Exchange 2007 instance from the current/old Server?  I have installed Exchange 2013 and migrated the mailboxes.... The Checklist on Technet does not really explain the steps one by one to get to a point of decommissioning the 07 server.

PLEASE HELP!!
