No Internet Access via Mobile Broadband Connection

Good day

I started this whole process with the intention to want to connect my ipad via wifi to my laptop (with the laptop using a broadband mobile connection)

After a couple of hours (yes, I'm not that clued up) of searching topics I found the correct way to successfully create an ad-hoc network (wireless network connection) and I then successfully connected to the network from my ipad, however, there is still no internet connection.

How can I check that my ad-hoc wireless network connection is using the mobile broadband internet of the laptop??

You are connecting to your laptop, but your laptop doesn't know that it should be sharing your Internet connection. Try turning on Internet Connection Sharing.
