Hi,

Where should I configure to allow the following URL of my SharePoint site http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment into a shorter one like http://dev only ?

Hi,
what will be the aim of this?
Do you want a simple redirect from http://dev to  http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment
OR
would you like to enable user to use http://dev either
- alongside with  http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment OR
- instead of  http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment
Thanks.

this one:

user to use http://dev either
- alongside with  http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment OR
- instead of  http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment

to make the URL shorter :-)

Hi,
this will only work if SystemDevelopment us a site collection. Then you can create a so called host-named site collection.

Why You Should Analyze Threat Actor TTPs

After years of analyzing threat actor behavior, it’s become clear that at any given time there are specific tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) that are particularly prevalent. By analyzing and understanding these TTPs, you can dramatically enhance your security program.

Unfortunately not, that would have been the case for the first option with the simple redirect http://dev -> http://SharePoint/SystemDevelopment

Rainer with the Vanity URL type of change, do I need to make DNS changes as well ?
in terms of DNS alias or CNAME

By using the Vanity URL reconfiguration, my understanding is that it uses the IIS by creating the new Virtual Directory, however I cannot create the custom virtual directory to do that because the default SharePoint site is already using port 80.

and also How can the url: http://software is recognizable in the domain ? do I need to make changes in the DNS ?
