HP 5500 laserjet error

We have the following error from our HP laserjet 5500 'unable to store job at printer'
reasons 'printer not configured to collate'
solution 'install an EIO hard disk'

What does this mean and how can I fix it?

An EIO hard disk is a hard drive that slides into one of the three EIO slots of your printer (one of which is being used by the JetDirect card). You would need this to use job storage features of the printer, and to store documents and macros directly on the printer.

A couple of fixes:

- Disable RAMDISK (Printer Menus: CONFIGURE DEVICE > SYSTEM SETUP > RAMDISK)
- Initialize the disk (while power cycling the printer, hold down the Pause/Resume button until all 3 LEDs are on solid, then release and then press the Back button; when it says INITIALIZE DISKS hit the green button)
- Try a few different drivers from HP.com
- Try any beta drivers from http://www.hp.com/pond/ljbeta (HP once gave me that, and the drivers there are solid gold for XP and 2000)
- Install more memory
- Install an EIO hard disk ....

Also, look at this thread:

You can turn off job storage if you don't need it.  Do you have it turned on?
