Hi guys,
I hope you are well and can help.

We are looking at building a development test environment, and I wish to look to see if SCVMM is a viable proposition.

We run VMware (not Hyper-V at the moment) but we do have a virtual machine that does have SCVMM on it.

My questions are:

1) Could SCVMM running as a virtual machine on top of VMware ESX be used as a dev test platform?

2) How can SCVMM be used as a dev test environment?

3) Can you configure for example, a "library" of vms to be used as a dev environment eg.6 vms as a dev environment?

Any help greatly appreciated.

SCVMM is just used for managing Hosts, i.e HyperV, XenServe or VMWARE.
1) yes it could, but you would need hosts.
2) you would provision some specific hosts for it to manage, would suggest HyperV ofc.
3) if isolated, it would BE your dev environment, alternatively if you used SCVMM for production and dev, you could have separate environments yet.

you could also just have a separate running vCenter, or have your current vCenter (assuming you have) with separate clusters for DEV and Production ? or two separate systems entirely.
