Hello Experts.

I have just installed windows server 8.

Can someone please tell me how to install windows media player?

I think it may already be on the server and I just need to activate it, but not sure.

Cheers

If it is installed already, look in Windows Accessories. That is where it hides in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

If not installed, go to Programs and Features and then Windows Features on the left side to see if it is there to install.

I never put Media Player or like tools on Client Servers, and I don't really recommend it on any server (but that is just my own thinking).

On Server 2008, you may need to install Desktop Experience which in turn includes Media Player for the Server. It is available on its own in Server 2003.

It is in Programs and Features under Windows Features as noted earlier. Here is a good Microsoft TechNet Article that describes it all.

I hope this helps.
