Restore Android contacts
Hello experts,
I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII. I have just restored factory defaults.
Before restore, I checked for my contacts and found that they all appear in the google account when I choose what to display in the phonebook.
I have also connected the phone to my PC and copied ALL phone folders to my D drive.
Now after factory reset, I see only two of my contacts appearing in the google section in phonebook.
Can I restore my contacts from the copied files in my D drive? Or from google again?

Actually I have setup my gmail account but found only three of those 100 contacts.
did you check gmail directly on web (on computer) and how many contacts you can see there?
if in your gmail you have all of your contacts, that means they are not synced with your phone.
So ensure you have internet connectivity on your smartphone.
Go to Settings -> Google accounts - > your gmail account -> tick Contacts (if it is ticked, untick it and then tick again)
Go to People -> Contacts to display -> choose approipriate gmail account
then you may to need to wait for a minute contact weill be loaded into your phone

Yes I found only three contacts on web gmail
then sync is OK, you have only 3 contacts on gmail and all 3 were synced into your S3. If you had more in gmail contacts then they are gone (hard to say why and how). maybe you have any contacts backup from the past you can use for restore?

What about those files which I have copied to D drive? Do they contain contacts?
I do not know - what are these files? can you provide names and extensions of these files? or the folder name where files are stored?

There is one folder for each app. i.e: WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook .... Some other folders which seem to be system related and I have searched inside for something helpful but didn't get those.
Does Android save contacts in those folders which appear when I connect the phone to the PC?

ok good. Hope I will find the mentioned file. I will check it when I return home.
the part with copied folders - I really have no idea (there is an option to export contact to SD card, but you probably did not use it before you did factory defaults)
