I have a table that has about 700,000 records and I need to be create a query to create another table with most of the records with the exception of some..

I have a text field that has Accounts and the accounts are as follow:

example of the format is --> 2090-253-00-01.

So I have 4 characters then a '-" another 3 and "-" then 2 and "-" then another 2 and "-"

I did the query as follow: not like "????-253-02-00" or not like "????-253-03-00"

I want to all the records except these that ends in -253-02-00 and -253-03-00 to go to a new table.

when I do that and display the results before I run the query I see that all the records are still being displayed..

Anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong???

Use AND instead of OR.

Also use # to specifically deal with numeric digits.  ? can be any character.

not like "####-253-02-00" AND not like "####-253-03-00"
