Error 1606 when installing a printer

I am trying to install printing software and i keep getting a 1606 error because the software wants to point to a network share and install there that does not exist can someone give me an idea on how to stop windows from automatically pointing to install apps to this location. The software does not give me an option to install to the local drive.

error 1606, can either have 2 possible companies:
error 1606 when installing HP printer: in this case use the HP cleanup utility http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=oj-11696-6
error 1606 from Microsoft products: use this FixIt http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549
