Hi, 
 
I have a question regarding Adaptec raid controllers. 
 
I plan on getting a simpler Adaptec SATA RAID controller and building 
a Raid 1 mirror with two drives. 
 
Is it likely that latter on I could upgrade the adaptec to a better controller 
and simply plug the new one in and it could read all the disks and retain the data? 
 
Or will I have to start again? 
 
Additionally assuming I have a RAID 1 mirror with two drives can I add drives two drives to it and turn it into a RAID 10 without having to loose the data ? Or would I need to start again. 
 
When I say loose the data - I mean destroying the RAID set and having to reformat the drives with the Adaptec utility software. 
 
The old raid card would be a an Adaptec RAID 3405

Adaptec SATA Raid Advice?

Components are those devices that are internal to a computer -- the PC boards, the central processor (CPU), the memory (RAM), disk and video controllers and so on.

Components

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces.
