Does anyone have a script or a list of what to measure in Performance Monitor to decide how much hardware I will need to Virtualize my server environment?<br />

I have a script from EMC to measure IOPS and other disk related stats, but I need memory, CPU, network. &nbsp;There must be something out there already to measure the things without me having to guess which items to monitor in our physical environment.

I have a script from EMC to measure IOPS and other disk related stats, but I need memory, CPU, network.  There must be something out there already to measure the things without me having to guess which items to monitor in our physical environment.

Performance Monitor Physical Environment to VM

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.

IT Administration is the processes and best practices for programming and development, and incorporates methodologies for managing activities and projects. Common methodologies include waterfall, prototyping, iterative and incremental development, spiral development, rapid application development, extreme programming and various types of agile methodology. The life-cycle "model" is a more general term for a category of methodologies, and a software development "process" a more specific term to refer to a specific process chosen by a specific organization.
