compatibility view

I have a user that needs to slect compatibility view and it is greyed out? This is for windows 7 and the browser is iE8.

Under,  Tools and Compatibility View Settings,
Compatibility ModeIf the bottom option is checked then it will disable Compatibility Mode

That is unchecked and when I open her browser, I dod not see the little Ripped looking piece of paper under your compatibility view settings? I have it but she does not.

I finally just made this simple and re-loaded iE. It worked. I would have rather found out why it did this. That was why I asked the question. Thanbks for the help.
