This is using Symanetec Backup Exec 2010 R3, to backup VMware ESXi 5.00 VMs. Among these VMs, is a exchange 2003 server. Every once in a while, the backup failed to delete the snapshot it created after the backup completed. This always causing some troubles, as the subsequent job always failed to complete. What's went wrong? and how to resolve it?

Are you using the VMware backup agent for BE? What is the concrete BE error message? Snapshot deletion may take a long time and the agent isn't waiting long enough.

I have the same issue. BE from times to times fails to delete snapshot after backup. What I have done - I've created an alarm on vCenter server (with e-mail notification) when snapshot size is above some limit. And every time BE leaves snapshot behind I get and e-mail and remove snapshot by myself.
