We are looking for the solution which can protect data theft from our user laptops. Is there any such cloud based solutions are there ?

You posted to windows 2000. What OS are you using on your laptops?

Windows Vista or higher, I would suggest bitlocker. You need to encrypt the contents of the drive somehow, otherwise a hacker can remove th edrive and connect it as a second drive to another computer.

Combines with a good policy on local storage of company data on a laptop, this should be sufficient.

Otherwise, there are lots of cloud-based solutions available that will let you access your data over the internet without actually having to store it on the laptop.
