Pro Tools cannot open new session when network is unreachable

We have installed Pro-Tools 10 and the Avid hardware (mixing console) on a Mac pro. We have created network maps to the NAS of our HQ to download the projects and upload the finished mixes.
When we have a connectivity problems between our site and HQ, when you open Pro-Tools to create a local session the program is unresponsive.
On first glance the program does not seem to search anything on the network (like recent projects for example).

Do you have any ideas of what might cause this behavor?
Thank you in advance

THis is probably because Apple Applications are designed to 'remember' the last location you saved something in.

i.e. if you saved it on a share smb://1.2.3.4/folder/whatever and exit the program. You'll notice that the next time you run the app, and save something, it remembers you were in smb://1.2.3.4/folder/whatever

If this is a constant issue, what I'd personally do is put a shortcut to the NAS share on your desktop, save the file locally and manually drag it over.

There's no easy fix to this other than getting a better connection!
