Google Docs similarity to Microsoft Excel

If you want to program in Microsoft Excel, I think that you use VBE. Is there a similar language for the Google docs spreadsheet?

Google uses Google Apps Script:
https://developers.google.com/apps-script/
https://developers.google.com/apps-script/guides/docs

Btw, it's based on javascript. So, if you are experienced with coding in javascript, it should be relatively easy to learn.
