For example, I want to search a file in my hard disk, 'c' drive.  How do I search this file in Windows 7?  I Windows XP, I used to go to Start menu - Find in Files, something like that.

In Windows 7, hit the start key. At the bottom left, you can enter text. Before clicking on it, you can see "Search Programs and Files". That is a good place to start. After the search completes, there is a "See more results" link at the bottom. Hitting that will give you file locations as well as the files.

If you do not find what you need, then click on the C drive in Windows Explorer. In the top right is a search text entry field. It should say "Search C: drive". You can narrow your search by selecting a subfolder and then doing the search. When you enter the text, notice that there is a filter that pops up for date or size.

Hope this helps.
