asp.net, pdf

I have a asp.net gridview to show pdf directory information. like <a href="http://www.hello.com/reports/printpdf.pdf">Print</a>

So under "Reports" folder, we have 1000 pdf there. My question is. I don't want public user without login websites to download the document.

how can we do that?

Keep track of the users in session variable and check for the session value during download.

I think you can prevent by don't allowing directory browsing to your virtual directory.
