How are you making this application?
You might want to find out the ascii codes of these symbols; you can find them with the character map (in accessories/system tools, or search for it depending on your os). Once you find that, it's possible that if you use the codes in your program they will show up as symbols.

Of course, it's impossible to know  without knowing how you're making your application - which language...
