Node and Express VS Web Services

I am learning about using Nodes and Express to send and recieve data from the web server. However isnt Node just like web services? Do I need to learn both (Node and web services)?

To answer your question,
Nodejs is framework not a web service, you can use Nodejs to create web services and many other things.
If you want to work strictly with Nodejs, you should only need to know how to create web services using Nodejs.
there are lots of how to's online to learn from (both Nodejs and Express)

When using Nodejs and Express, you will have to follow the MVC pattern, define routes, views and controllers.
