This https://support.ocr.ca/stock/Default.aspx/Motorola-Symbol/Scanner-Accessories/Cable/25-13532-10 lists alternatives.  However they seem to turn up empty as well when searched for.  You could try them and see what they have.

Now can you upload a photo of this cable.  It seems to be a serial cable RS232C but the question is what type of connectors are on each end.  If they are standard connectors then you could have a cable made up to the length you want.

None of their alternative numbers works as you correctly stated. I have tried multiple locations on the net and come up empty handed. :(

I have attached a picture, as suggested. Don't know how the cable is constructed.

Have a look at page 6 or 8 of http://www.barcodediscount.com/pdf/Symbol/ll500.pdf where it talks about plugging the 8 pin end into the unit.   Does one end of your cable have a plug like this?

The other end looks like it has 9 pins and may be something like this.

Can you confirm?

Thx for the help, received a message from www.barcodemegastore.com that they can provide used cables so will try that out.
