can you brief some more ?

is that program file tracking program that watches file behavior ? like new file auto open in folder ?

if i am right and close to your requirement. you can start thinking by searching(search function)  for excel file in particular folder. compare the created  file date and time with current date and time to open newly hit file in folder.

I created another program that saves csv files from a different machine to a protected network folder.   I have excel set to run a macro automatically that processes this file and emails it to the appropriate people.

I want to create a vb program that will always run on a certain PC and when it detects a new file written to the network folder, it would open this file in excel with no user interaction.
