Microsoft SBS 2011: Issue with Folder Redirection / Offline Files

On SBS 2011 we have folder redirection enabled for all users. I'm having problems with Mobile users however. The issues are as follows:
1. Logins for remote users can take up to 10 minutes
2. Once logged in users cannot access their files or their desktop settings.
3. There is no local copy of the desktop in their laptop profiles
There seems to be some issue with offline files and synchronisation in general. One user has offline files enabled but the typical blue/white arrows are note visible on his desktop.
It's essential that remote users can access their files from their desktop and that these files will synchronise when they return to the office.
Can anyone help?
