Set email attribute to userprincipalname

In my Active Directory structure, I am looking for a method to set a users email attribute to the same value as their userprincipalname. I have used %username% in the past to populate the path for a home directory. I am wondering if there is a similar statement that I can use to poplulate the email attribute.
