Note 2 Data sync

Hi All

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

When I connect my phone to my PC I am not able to see the phone in my list of drives under computer.  Is there a setting on the phone that needs to be on or off?  My coworker has the same phone and her phone is listed as an external device where she could transfer data.  I did a search on the net and a possible cause was a defective USB cable.  So I tried her USB cable and it still did not work.  I’m sure it’s the setting.
