Cisco 891 Router DHCP

I am getting ready to install a cisco 891 router into our network.

It will be running as a router on a stick for 3 separate /24  networks.  Will it be possible for this router to handle DHCP for 1 of the networks, but still have our MS Server boxes handle DHCP for the other 2 networks?

I have some experience with the Cisco IOS, but wasn't sure how the DHCP would work with the separate networks and router on a stick.

Thanks!

Interface VLANxxxx
ip helper address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - - > ip of cisco router running dhcp

Interface VLANyyyy
ip helper address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - -> ip of win server running dhcp

Interface VLANzzz
ip helper address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - -> ip of win server running dhcp

I guess you are you using VLANs for the 3 different /24s.

It should be able to handle DHCP for 1 of the networks, if you are using a manageable switch, just make sure you set an ip helper for that specific VLAN.

Yes, I am also purchasing some cisco 2960 switches and will be using VLANS for the 3 networks.

Give each vlan/network an ip helper for its respective DHCP server or just for the network the router will be handling DHCP for?

thanks!

Depends.. Its best to assign each VLAN it's ip helper address since you're going to use a 2960 :-)
