Trying to make message appear if combobox value deleted

Here's my afterupdate code.  It isn't working.  No messagebox appears.

If IsNull(Me.cboSelectBudget) Then
    MsgBox "You have deleted an associated budget.  Be sure to enter a construction budget figure."
End If

I should have said... what is the datatype of the field bound to your combobox?
