Quick question...

If you disable an account in Active directory, will the mailbox still get emails, or more importantly if you setup a forward emails to a different account, will this still work with the account disabled.

Yes, the mail flow will continue. We do this in our organization and we have no issues.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

But you have to disabled it in Active Directory, correct, as if you disable in Exchange management, doesn't it dis associate the mailbox? and disappear from the GAL and etc.

Yes, you need to disable in ADUC, not in EMC.
You can choose to hide the account from the GAL, but that is a personal preference and how you and your company deal with disabled accounts/users.
