Hi,

If you are completely new to SCCM2012 then you might best start with reading up on it, looking at introduction videos etc... This can be done perfectly at the Microsoft System Center Virtual Labs, which, as you might have guessed, also offers virtual labs, where you can test out a few things. You can find these labs here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/virtuallabs/bb539977.aspx

These labs are not only for SCCM2012, but a big part is.

A book that might be interesting to have on the subject, is System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (SCCM) Unleashed, it's a very big book and will get you very acquainted with the subject.

As for certification, you can take exam 70-243 (Administering and Deploying System Center 2012 Configuration Manager).

You can make this exam with self study, just make sure you practice a lot, test out different scenarios, learn how to deploy and configure it, just test yourself.

If you have the hardware for it, for example a laptop with a lot of RAM, you could set up a testlab for yourself using a virtual tool like VMware Workstation or maybe Virtualbox. Set up some Windows Servers, make a domain, set up SCCM, etc... Microsoft offers trials for their server versions (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11093)

Hope this helps you on your way!
