Citrix Dashboard

Hi All,

I am working in an organisation where I am the only engineer looking after Citrix. Ours is a Xenapp 5.0 on windows 2003 environment running 24X7. We thought of creating a dashboard where in a junior most IT technician can perform basic citrix troubleshooting as well as looking at the dashboard, he can declare if there is any Citrix problem persisting in the Overall IT environment.

Keeping this in mind, I have created this excel sheet, as a dashboard.

This dashboard is based on some question and answer. Idea here is that even he calls me at odd hours in night or so, he can call me with the answers found in this dashboard. This will help me in not starting to digging out the issue all over again and rather concentrate  straight way on the actual area of issue.

Can somebody look into the excel sheet and put any observation in case I am missing some important point.

Rather than create a series of questions, it would be far easier to set up EdgeSight and have alerts generated based on specific/common issues.  It would also tell you a lot about the health of your environment at that time.

XA5/2003 also included Resource Manager.  I'm a huge fan of the output data of Resource Manager, and it is very simple to set up.  

With both of these tools, you can also go back and look at snapshots, so if you know that an issue occurred at 2:00 AM, it's easy enough to see what processes were running, resource consumption, etc.

You'll drive yourself nuts trying to set up a whole series of questions because a junior person would likely overlook something that you knew was important.  Let a monitoring tool do the heavy lifting for you.

Hi Joharder,

Sorry for the delayed answer. Yes Resource Manager is fine and for Edgesight, you have to buy license.

I tried installing RM in our environment and working for couple of days. It looks promishing.
