HFM Smart View intermittent bug

Hey Experts,

I'm using the Oracle Hyperion Smart View (version 11.1.2.0.00 - Build 514) Excel add-in (Excel 2003 and 2007) in Ad hoc reporting mode and I'm running into an intermittent bug. Maybe one of you has seen this before and knows what is causing it and can provide a solution or user work-around.

The bug I'm seeing is that periodically, Smart View will stop allowing me to drag dimensions from the POV to the grid on the sheet. Once it stops working, I'm at a loss for how to get it to start working again. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting and disconnecting, closing and re-opening the spreadsheet, then reconnecting. I just tried disconnecting, closing completely out of Excel, then opening Excel, re-opening the spreadsheet and re-connecting and the Drag functionality came back, but I don't know whether this is a consistent work-around (even if it is a hassle).

Has anybody seen this? Is there a fix or consistent, easy, user work-around?

Please help.

Thanks,

taduh

Are you able to reproduce the same issue logging in to the same PC with another user? Better if you create a new fresh test user.
Does the Windows Application Log report any Warnings/Errors that might help?
Does the issue happen after an amount of time (which could suggest us a memory leak problem) or it happens even the very first after a reboot?

strivoli,

All good questions, but I had a scheduled upgrade of my PC to Office 7.0 and since then, I have not had the issue re-occur. I'm hoping the upgrade took care of the issue.

Thanks for your suggestions. If the error re-occurs, I'll remember your suggestions.

Thanks,

Sorry, I meant that I upgraded to Office 2007 - not Office 7.0. - taduh
