Setting up SFTP server

I need to setup a SFTP server for some payroll processing. I checked our server and we already have filezilla setup and currently hosting a ftp site. Can I also do a separate site using the same Filezilla server? Just route traffic through port 22 or should I load another software package like WinSSHD?

FileZilla Server can do FTPS but not SFTP...  WinSSHD personal version is cheap, freeSSHd is free, Robo-FTP Server costs money but is the easiest to set up because it generates the keys during install so all you have to create a login account, give it a password and thats it.  If you want to use client key authentication instead of a password you can do that too but you'll need a copy of the user's public key... they keep their private key private.

Yes, just make sure you download the Server version.

After the install it launches a "server console" program that you use to configure the server... just click on "Users" and then "New" and then give it a username and click OK or Apply or whatever and that is it... you have an SFTP server.

The default for FTP is port 21 and the default for SFTP is port 22.  Your server software could be configured to listen for either on a non-standard port.
