Hi does any body know if this is possible. We want a custom marker ( so like an AR Marker) to be scanned so that it opens a URL ( so like a QR code).

So the problem is that we want a mixture of the two behaviours, it can't look like a QR code but it must open a URL as we don't want any AR 3D imposed on the marker.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

QR Codes and AR Markers are standards that most mobile phones/tablets have software available to interpret and use. So basically you want to develop your own proprietary method which you are quite free to do.  you will also have to develop the smart application for the mobile users.  You could use something like the UPC bar codes but again you'd have to develop and then distribute the mobile end.
