I want to create a new sitemap.xml AND a sitemap.html

I know that there are a lot of free services on the Internet for sitemap.xml and some of them seem good.
But I am concerned about importing any viruses or malaware in the file onto my new website.
For this reason I am considering  paying for a s/w package that would do both the xml and the html files.
Can you recommend any please?

I think you're being overly concerned about getting an issues from an online generator of sitemaps.  if you do a quick Google on your selected product and nothing obvious stands out about it being not trustworthy, I think you're good to go.  There are so many other ways for people to more effectively spread their viruses and whatnot that sitemaps probably don't rank very highly for them.

That being said, here's a nice list of tools that can generate sitemaps per the standard:

http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ - I think you'll find plenty of free solutions online.  This one appears to offer a free version up to 500 pages.  if your site is larger, you may have to look around for another one.

In general, basic features like generating the sitemaps is free and then they offer premium services like automatically updating it for you etc when you pay.

good luck!
