Mutiple Sections in one document using Data Merge in InDesign CS6

Hi all,

I'm working on some forms using Data Merge in CS6.  Everything is fine, but I need to add some sections based on a data field, if I can.

Data Source is a .csv file with the following fields:  id, description, uom, uomqty, weight, selectcode.  The file is sorted by selectcode ascending then description ascending.

I'm using a 2-column layout (standard letter).  What I want to do is put a break (or header, or bold text, etc.) where the selectcode changes to a new one.  For example:

      item description uom uomqty code
      abc123 Item ABC 123 ea 1 bags
      def456 Item DEF 456 cs 6 bags
      ghi789 Item GHI 789 ea 1 bags
      jkl012 Item JKL 012 cs 12 door
      mno345 Item MNO 345 ea 1 door

I want whichever column the change happens in to print a header (or bold single line text) above the next set of products.

Bags
      abc123  Item ABC 123  ea   1        bags
      def456  Item DEF 456  cs   6        bags
      ghi789  Item GHI 789  ea   1        bags
Door
      jkl012  Item JKL 012  cs   12       door
      mno345  Item MNO 345  ea   1        door

Not sure if it can be done with Data Merge?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll need some level of scripting to react to a trigger, applying the formatting you need. Such scripting probably exists. You could try vendors such as emSoftware  http://emsoftware.com/products/emcatalog/

Im afraid it cost quite a bit...

That's what I thought, but wondered if I was just missing something.

I played with both emcatalog and easycatalog, and think I'm going to go forward with easycatalog because it's a little more straightforward than emcatalog.
